Our Mission
A message from our Director:
“When I think about warriors, I often think about strength, perseverance, loyalty, and doing hard things for what matters most. To me, a warrior can be an armed forces member, a first responder, or a veteran. But it can also mean other things. It can be the farmer or fisherman who is doing a hard job. It can be parents overwhelmed by the demands they face in their work and home life. It can be a teacher facing burnout who cares about the lives of their students.
While not everyone may think of themselves in a military way, approaching life in a strong way with grit can apply to everyone. In fact, our clinic was originally going to be named after the bison, a mighty animal with strength and steadfast perseverance who faces storms directly and overcomes many challenges. Facing emotional challenges can be the toughest thing someone has to do. The live-action version of the Disney film Mulan has a great motto for a warrior: loyal, brave, and true (Caro, 2020). If we are loyal, brave, and true, we are better equipped to live a life of meaning within our values.
Together, we find the way you want to go and work on getting you there.”
